Aged 4 - 11. Well-behaved parents welcome if accompanied by a child.
Best-selling author and real-live vet, Gill has joined up with philosopher and academic, Beth Mackintosh for a philosophy, storytelling and arts session.
It is a WONDERFUL opportunity to learn about seals, seabirds, stories and how this links to philosophy. An opportunity for some arts and crafts too!
Gill will talk a bit about her background as a vet and then as an author and the inspiration for her writing. Drawing on her Island Vet series, she will explain about how living with animals is wonderful, but has challenges. This is where Beth comes in with some philosophy and an introduction to a philosopher called Mary Midgley who wrote about mixed human-animal communities and how we can find ways of being together.
There is a chance to create an island of our own, to learn about seals and to create some colourful maps! There will also be time to listen to some of Gill’s stories and some philosophical 'stories for thinking' from Beth.
