Event Details

Local poet Mark Lewis will be in conversation with Pippa Davies about his book, Erimos, an extended prose poem published in 2024, as well as discussing his new collection of poems due to be published by The Seventh Quarry Press in early 2026.

Erimos was described as “a very powerful and dark narrative…a fascinating read. It is a work to be read again and again to really appreciate its sheer originality, its imaginative use and control of language from start to finish, and the impressive poetic and dramatic moments within the unfolding and thoroughly engaging moral tale” (Poet, dramatist, author Peter Thabit Jones).

Written over a period of three years, the book has received excellent reviews. The narrative takes in various poetic forms in its modern take on the age-old story of the fight between good and evil. The book addresses several contemporary issues and questions our actions as human beings. The book has been compared to the works of Chaucer and TS Eliot but also as strikingly original and has been described as a new ‘creation myth’.

Mark recently appeared at Aberystwyth Poetry Festival and Solva Edge Festival, talking about the writing of the book as well as the writing of a new collection to be published by The Seventh Quarry Press in 2026.

The session will consist of an hour-long conversation concerning the writing process, themes and inspirations with a following Q & A session. Signed books will be available for purchase after the event.
